My journey to Tungnath and Chandrashila wasn’t just a trip; it was a collection of precious moments spent with close friends. The three of us had planned this adventure together, determined to make it unforgettable. Away from the hustle and bustle of Delhi, the peace and serenity of the mountains awaited us.
The Beginning: Delhi to Rishikesh
We began our journey early in the morning by catching a bus from Delhi. The ride to Rishikesh was easy and comfortable, with the scenic views of the mountains from the bus window filling us with excitement. The three of us were set on continuing our journey from Rishikesh on bikes. As soon as we reached Rishikesh, we rented three bikes from a local rental shop, and that’s when the real adventure began.
Biking from Rishikesh to Chopta
The bike ride from Rishikesh to Chopta was truly a thrilling experience. As we rode through the winding mountain roads, we were greeted by breathtaking views of the hills and valleys. Along the way, we passed through scenic spots like Harshil and Rudraprayag, where we took short breaks. The fresh mountain air, the curves of the road, and the roar of the bikes made the journey even more enjoyable. We rode with music playing, laughing, and chatting, fully immersed in the spirit of our friendship. We stopped several times along the way to enjoy tea and snacks, making the journey even more fun.
As we approached Chopta, we felt a bit tired, but our excitement far outweighed the exhaustion. The cool mountain breeze and the stunning views of Chopta quickly wiped away our fatigue.
Trek to Tungnath: A Blend of Challenges and Joy
From Chopta, we embarked on the trek to Tungnath. We parked our bikes in Chopta and began the 4 km trek, which was both adventurous and refreshing. The path was covered with snow, and the chill in the air made the trek slightly challenging, but our spirits remained high.
Reaching the Tungnath temple was an incredible feeling. Tungnath, the world’s highest Shiva temple, is known for its sacredness and tranquillity. As we prayed at the temple, we felt a profound sense of peace. It’s a place that not only calms your mind but also fills you with a unique energy.
The Golden Peak: Chandrashila Summit
After visiting the Tungnath temple, our next goal was the summit of Chandrashila. The trek to Chandrashila was even more challenging, but we knew that the view from the top would make it all worthwhile. When we finally reached the summit, the sight before us confirmed that our decision to make this journey was right.
From Chandrashila, you get a 360-degree view of the surrounding peaks, including Trishul, Nanda Devi, Kedar, and Chaukhamba. It was an experience that was difficult to describe in words. We sat there in silence, lost in the beauty and peace of the mountains.
The Experience of Traveling with Friends
This journey wasn’t just about the destination; it was about strengthening the bond of friendship. The moments we shared, the bike rides, the trek, the laughter – all of it will stay with us forever.
Every time I feel tired or overwhelmed with life, this trip to Tungnath and Chandrashila comes to mind, reminding me of the joy and calm that the mountains brought us.
